We have been thinking to a small contest "Fly Cowichan 2016" whose terms are still under development. We have set multiplier for different EN class wings A,B,C,D so to have a fair competition within this beautiful valley. Men/Women, PG/HG.... There will be ranking in terms of xc contest points (km) and even time in the air (minutes), if anyone simply wants to improve ability to stay in the air and does not want to venture xc. Only pre-requisite is the take off to be within the Cowichan valley boundaries (simply write Cowichan valley in google maps it gives you the boundaries, see attached map) ! So Prevost, Hill 60, Honeymoon Bay, Youbou ...) all you have to do is go flying and make sure your gps has batteries, to be able to log your flight. I did not define all the rules yet and asked some help to the experts, but intended to communicate this asap as contest started on June 01.
They made me notice if flights are already logged in xc contest whether they can be accepted. As we had nice flights in the last months they should be taken in considerations. XC contest I believe accepts for Canada 30 days old flights to be logged not older, but if the flight is already logged we will consider. So we are considering 2016 flights in the valley.
Furthermore I want to leverage one member idea on the case of beer. Not to encourage breaking the 9500 ft but for the rocket pilots that scores the highest altitude during the Fly Cowichan 2016 I was thinking to a case of beer from a Cowichan (what else) brewery http://redarrowbeer.ca/
So for now we will have three contest:
- XC distance points (Cowichan Eagle)
- Minutes in the air (Cowichan Star)
- Highest Altitude (Red Arrow)
Paraglider multipliers for timing (minutes) and distance (XContest points),
Tandem will have multipliers according to their class.
For the altitude we all compete equally. The highest will get the Red Arrow !
Make sure to enroll on XContest.
This link should do the trick for the Fly Cowichan 2016 contest more or less. Radius can be adjusted to reflect the Cowichan valley.
